The Taming of the Shrew (The New School)
The New School
May 2023
New York, NY
Production Recording
Set within the confines of a classic 1950s sitcom, this production explored the contrast between the categorization of the play as a comedy, and the way its sexism registers with our modern sensibilities. By staging its more chauvinistic beats in a severe manner, alongside an ever-present laugh track, the production leans into the idea of cruelty as comedy and "punching down" at those with lesser social power. The show served as my senior BFA directing thesis at The New School.
